Joe Vieira Park is located in the community of Meer Zorgen, some 4 kilometres (2.48 miles) away from Vreed-en-Hoop, West Bank Demerara and approximately 5 kilometres (3 miles) away from Georgetown. The location was designated a park on March 24, 1982.
The land was donated by Mr. Joseph Rudolph Vieira, AA, Executive Chairman of Houston Sugar Estate. It was named in Mr. Vieria’s honour for his many contributions to country. The Park is managed by the National Parks Commission. It is home to numerous species of trees and serves as the hub for social and cultural activities for the West Demerara District.
