Historical Background / Description:
The Bagotville Memorial Monument is located in the West Bank Demerara community of Bagotville. It was erected in honour of Mr. Jake Croker. Croker, born in 1914, was a popular folklorist, nationalist and founder of the Bagotville Cultural Circle which promoted Guyanese African culture. He died in 1986 at the age of 72 years.
