Historical Background / Description:
Orinduik Falls, surrounded by the grassland hills of the Pakaraima Mountains is a cascade consisting of a number of oversteps and terraces of solid jasper rocks upon which the highland river of Ireng drifts over. The waterfall measures approximately 25 metres (82 feet) in height and 150 metres (492 feet) in width. The name Orinduik is derived from the Amerindian word, Orin, which is also a name of an aquatic plant found nearby to the falls.
