From June 6-8, 2016, the National Trust of Guyana held its first international heritage conference called the Georgetown International Heritage Conference which was sponsored by World Monument Funds (WMF). GIHC was held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, located at Liliendaal on the East Coast of Demerara. The conference was executed during a significant time in Guyana’s history as the nation celebrated its fiftieth Independence celebration under the theme, Reflect, Celebrate, Inspire.
The aim of the conference was to boost the heritage sector particularly the tangible, built sector as both local and international experts gathered to share their knowledge and experiences on the heritage sector.
Feel free to review the conference document called Time for Guyana. For more details on this document visit WMF’s website at wmf.org and search for “Time for Guyana”.
